The OPEC Fund for International Development

The OPEC Fund for International Development

$115

The OPEC countries’ collective policy is to offer external development assistance free from political or commercial ties, with the purpose of expressing the solidarity of one group of developing countries with the rest. Since 1976, this policy has found vigorous practical expression in the operations and activities of the OPEC fund. First published in 1983, this book describes the Fund’s organisational evolution into a fully-fledged international body, detailing the fund’s achievements in providing loans and grants to over 80 countries with operations based on principles that have influenced the whole development movement. Concrete examples are outlined, such as where the fund has acted as a catalyst for development, or a spokesman for a group of countries in international negotiations.

Utilize Free College Programs And Scholarships To Help Pay Your College Costs

Want to go to college, but cannot afford it? That is a very common problem for students everywhere. It is important that you do not let it hold you back. There are many forms of financial aid available that can help you attend school. Grants, loans and scholarships are all designed to send students to school.

A great form of financial aid that does not require repayment is a scholarship. Scholarships are a great way to fund your education; however, they often have requirements and are designed for certain groups of people. Finding one that applies to you can be difficult.

One good way to find scholarships is by searching on the internet. There are plenty of websites with information about scholarships. Most of them allow you to search for scholarships fitting your major and qualifications. You may be quickly matched with many that fit your profile. Websites like these often enable you to apply for these scholarships right then and there.

Take a look around your school for scholarship opportunities. Often there are bulletin boards near school offices with clippings about financial aid offerings. Guidance counselors also usually have knowledge of what is available. If you are a college student, visit your financial aid office, or check out the listings posted in different departments.

One thing you can do to ensure you receive some form of aid is fill out the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Visit the FAFSA website and submit an application. It will ask you many questions on your income and background. This application will provide you with, if you qualify, grants and loans. Loans may be of no interest to you, but grants do not require repayment, so they are of excellent help.

Scholarships often have pretty specific requirements. They ask for applicants with perfect grades, or other academic skills. Students who do not have excellent grades can look for scholarships for those who excel at certain sports or other extracurricular activities. There are offerings for students who are minorities and for students who are gearing up for a certain major, such as journalism. Some may require students to write essays. It is very much like a competition.

To get noticed when you apply for scholarships, you may want to make sure you are applying to only the ones that fit you personally. It you do not have the GPA they are asking for, or the certain skills, then do not bother applying. You will get ignored. However, if you focus on the ones that are right for you, you can write your application with their goals in mind. If they want someone with specific extracurricular activities, make sure you go over yours in detail. That could help a lot to ensure your application does not get lost in the pile.

Now, if you need more than just scholarships, do not forget about the grants and online college programs out there. Some students are funded for school entirely by grants. Do not get discouraged. An education is important to you and to this society, so use all the free college money and other financial aid you have available to get that degree.
