Constructing a Post-War Order

Constructing a Post-War Order

$99

The years 1942 to 1946 saw the acceleration of World War II, its conclusion and the construction of a post-war order that was to culminate in the Cold War. Andrew Baker here examines the expansion of US political and economic power and hegemony during this period, and the extent to which smaller states, particularly Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, contested this expansion. Through successfully outlining and defending their own notions of sovereignty, property and commercial rights, they were able to a make a significant contribution towards fashioning a post-war framework more conducive to states than empires. This analysis of the period immediately after World War II will appeal to researchers of history and international relations, as well as those interested in the political economy of the post-war world.

THE LUMINOUS AND GRIPPING NEW NOVEL FROM “ONE OF OUR BEST WRITERS” (JONATHAN YARDLEY, THE WASHINGTON POST ) When Julia Lambert, an art professor, settles into her idyllic Maine house for the summer, she plans to spend the time tending her fragile relationships with her father, a repressive neurosurgeon, and her gentle mother, who is descending into Alzheimer’s. But a shattering revelation intrudes: Julia’s son Jack has spiraled into heroin addiction. In an attempt to save him, Julia marshals help from her looseknit clan: elderly parents; remarried ex-husband; removed sister; and combative eldest son. Ultimately, heroin courses through the characters’ lives with an impersonal and devastating energy, sweeping the family into a world in which deceit, crime, and fear are part of daily life. Roxana Robinson is the author of Sweetwater , which Booklist called a “hold-your-breath novel of loss and love.” Billy Collins praised Robinson as “a master at moving from the art of description to the work of excavating the truths about ourselves.” In Cost , Robinson tackles addiction and explores its effects on the bonds of family, dazzling us with her hallmark subtlety and precision in evoking the emotional interiors of her characters. The result is a work in which the reader’s sense of discovery and compassion for every character remains unflagging to the end, even as the reader, like the characters, is caught up in Cost ’s breathtaking pace.

Make More Money Through Niche Markets

Make more money by establishing a web site online and driving visitors to that site. The way to make more money is to bring a specific group of people (visitors) to the site. This is known as a niche market. You may be a huge car buff but the theme of autos would not be thought of as a niche market. But convertables would be a niche and most likely a profitable one.

When you wish to make more money you will have to at least be able to purchase a site. This will be a raw site with no programing and they cost approximately $60 per year. Before you purchase your site, you want to identify what your market is because you want to align the site name to your specific niche market.

To enjoy your work and make more money you want to think of a niche market that is pleasing to you. So you begin by pulling up Google Groups and searching on terms that appeal to you, for instance if you like boating then Google ‘boats’. Follow the various discussions and conversations about boats.

What I found was a lot of discussions about getting rid of mildew on the seats. It was interesting that such a lack luster topic was getting so much word play. When you start chunking down the various combinations of mildew you also get mold. So it seems when you look up mold and mildew on Google Adsense keyword tool, that it would be a perfect niche market.

I looked up mold and mildew on the search engine and found one site, mold-removal-tips.com as a pretty good one with lots of depth. So it must be a very good niche. That’s the type of niche you are looking to find.

I also typed in ‘pine tree’ in Google Groups and noticed a lot people having difficulty and different answers for removing pine tree sap from their cars. That is a very tiny niche and for the time being it may not drive enough traffic to a site to pay for itself. So keep doing the research until you find a market.

With a market niche found and the constant pressure to make more money, you now figure out a theme for your site. Mold and Mildew? Is it pine sap on the car? Or is it something you followed after spending your time researching the market? Keep on until you have one good niche market theme. For the pine tree sap, the theme could be ‘tree sap solved’, ‘tree sap eliminated’, ‘no sap on cars’ and so on.

Once you have the theme, you then secure your site by finding a provider that you like and using their availability program to find your URL or web site address. The one mentioned above is kind of nifty because it uses hyphens and it tells you what the site is about mold-removal-tips.

Once you have found a good web address, then purchase it and try to make it a ‘dot com’. They are by far the most visited web sites with the “.com” after the URL name. Now it’s time to make more money.

Now all you do is begin programming the site. If you are completely new then use something easy like WordPress and it will help you create a pretty nice site. Or contract someone to generate a few pages for you. Then place some ads on it or sell a niche product that relates to your site.

Make more money with only a modest effort through using the Internet and its ability to draw very specific niche markets to one site. If you are always thinking, “I want money”, then setting up a site on autopilot will fulfill your goal.
