Thirty years have passed since President Nixon’s resignation, yet, the impact of the "Watergate" scandal continues to affect the institutional power of the American chief executive. Through documents and analytical essays, this timely collection places the Watergate crisis in perspective, providing a cogent and balanced analysis of the development and consequences of an event that has overshadowed Nixon’s legacy and permanently altered the country’s perceptions of politics. Watergate threatened the very constitutional order of the nation, and continues to this day to affect the public’s attitudes about the presidency, America’s political culture, the mass media’s coverage of politics, the separation of powers, and the investigation of high-level misconduct in the federal government. Twelve topical essays written by presidential scholars cover these themes and examine the impact of the crisis over time. Primary source materials, including transcripts from oral interviews, Nixon’s speeches, letters, the infamous Watergate tapes, excerpts from testimony and hearings in Congress, the proposed articles of impeachment, and more are all put in context with explanatory headnotes. Watergate and the Resignation of Richard Nixon will explain:. * How public opinion and attitudes about politics changed after Watergate. * How the balance of power between the three branches of government has been altered by the crisis. * How succeeding presidents have been affected by the legacy of Watergate. * Why mass media coverage of politics changed after Watergate. * What impact the crisis had on America’s relations with the rest of the world.

John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon each dreamed of becoming the great young leader of their age. First as friends, then as bitter enemies, they were linked by a historic rivalry that changed both them and their country. In this startling dual portrait, Chris Matthews shows how the contest between the charismatic Kennedy and the talented yet haunted Nixon propelled America toward Vietnam and Watergate. Fresh, entertaining, and revealing, Kennedy and Nixon shows how the early fondness between the two men—Kennedy, for example, told a trusted friend that if he didn’t receive the Democratic nomination in 1960, he would vote for Nixon—degenerated into distrust and bitterness. Using White House tapes, this book shows how Richard Nixon’s dread of a Kennedy “restoration” in 1972 drove the dark deeds of Watergate.

Want to Be Smarter?: A Review of the ZOX Pro Training System

Many of us wish we could be a little bit smarter;some of us even wish we could be a lot smarter. The creators of the ZOX Pro Training System are aiming to teach you the most effective way to unleash your brain’s potential and really be smarter. However, can you train your brain so you can be smarter? Can training your brain to be smarter be done? Does this system do its job? We opted to take a deeper look at the system and see if it is worth its asking price.

The main idea behind the ZOX system is teaching your brain to be smarter by becoming a speed reader. In essence, the ZOX system is one on learning how to speed read, oh, anything you wish! The technique you learn for your speed reading is referred to as Memory Photography and is thought to teach you how to mentally photograph complete pages for later recollection.

For students, one of the hardest areas of learning is being able to sit through all of the reading they need to do and then recall what they have read afterwards. This is especially true for students with learning impairments like dyslexia, ADD and ADHD. The program is a system that is designed to help you with the reading aspect of your learning process. The program promises you that you can read complete pages or even complete books in just a few minutes time. If you progress through the ZOX Pro Training System closely, you’ll be able to read much faster and recall what you’ve read later. This provides students who aren’t good readers quite a boost to their confidence.

Dr. Richard Welch (with the aid of a book authored by Shannon Panzo) created the ZOX Pro Training System. Dr. Welch spent more than thirty years finding out everything he could about the brain and its ability to keep and process information. Dr. Richard Wleche’s Memory Photography system is developed based on the combination of his own research and experience and the theories and information found within Panzo’s book. At first glance, everything looks really good.

The ZOX Pro Training System does not have a low cost. The program is presently selling for a little less than $200 but for that $200, you get a variety of learning modules to help you work through the program as well as a lot of bonus materials to help you put what you have learned in the course to further use. So if you feel that videos, audio files, lessons and eBooks are worth $200 you will likely think the selling price is reasonable.

Our main issue with this program is the fact that, while it is terrific to be able to read quickly, having that ability doesn’t necessarily make you smarter. It is having the ability to process and grasp what you read that helps you get further in school. Though, obviously, if you are having difficulty getting through the reading to begin with, you will likely struggle with the other stuff too. In this regard, the ZOX Pro Training System can be a wonderful tool to have in your arsenal.
